Court opinions

How to cite a U.S. territorial court opinion

Cite a court of Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands or the U.S. Virgin Islands like a state court: case name, the reporter or court-numbered citation, and a parenthetical naming the court when the citation does not already show it.

Several territorial courts number their own opinions, and Puerto Rico’s Supreme Court writes in Spanish; the book’s Table A gives each territory’s forms.
