The video for this lesson is being made

Until it is ready, read the chapter it teaches: Chapter 13, Statutes. This page will show the video as soon as it is published.

What you will be able to do

  1. Build a U.S. Code citation (title, code, section, pinpoint and edition year), and cite subsections, lists and ranges without misleading the reader.
  2. Cite the same law as Congress enacted it, and know when the session law, not the Code, is the text to cite.
  3. Treat the year as an edition, not a status, and show amended or repealed text; check whether your court's rule sets the form.
